Stripe and Clover test data

Use these provider-approved details only on a Strata-assigned Stripe or Clover test flow. Never enter real identity, card, or bank information.

Before you start

  1. 01

    Confirm the test page

Check the business, assigned task, payment amount when applicable, and provider before entering anything.

  2. 02

    Run only your assigned scenario

Do not test refunds, voids, duplicate submissions, or extra payment methods unless Strata asks you to.

  3. 03

Stop when something does not match

Send the page URL and what you saw. Do not try a real payment method to get around a test failure.

Stripe

Test cards, US bank accounts, and connected-account onboarding details for Stripe-hosted sandbox pages.

Card details

Use expiration 12/34, CVC 123, and ZIP code 27601.

  • Scenario

    Successful card payment

    Use

    4242 4242 4242 4242

    Expected result

    The payment is accepted.

  • Scenario

    Declined card

    Use

    4000 0000 0000 0002

    Expected result

The page shows a safe decline and allows another attempt.

  • Scenario

    Authentication challenge

    Use

    4000 0025 0000 3155

    Expected result

Stripe asks for test authentication before completing payment.

For the authentication challenge, follow Stripe's test prompt and choose the successful completion option unless your assigned scenario says to test failure.

Bank account details

Choose Bank account. If Stripe asks you to pick an institution, select Test (Non-OAuth). If manual entry is offered, use routing number 110000000 and the assigned account below.

  • Scenario

    Successful ACH payment

    Use

    000123456789

    Expected result

The account is accepted. The payment can process before it succeeds.

  • Scenario

    Insufficient funds

    Use

    000222222227

    Expected result

The payment later fails for insufficient funds. Use only when assigned.

If Stripe requests microdeposit verification, enter 32 and 45 cents. If it requests a statement descriptor code, use SM11AA. A bank payment can remain in Processing after checkout, so do not submit it again unless asked.

Connected account setup

Follow these steps in order for an assigned Stripe sandbox account. Each screenshot shows where you land, and a red circle marks what to tap. Tap a screenshot to see it larger. Stripe's hosted form can look like a real business application and say “Get started with Stripe” even for a test account.

Start in Olive

  1. 01
    Start in Olive

In Olive staging, open Billing, then Payment setup. The Stripe card must show the Stripe sandbox tag. If it does not, stop and contact Strata. The info button beside the tag links back to this guide. Then select Set up test Stripe account.

Create your Stripe sign-in

Everything in this part is real. Stripe uses it to sign you in to the test account.

  1. 02
    Email

Stripe sends a sign-in code to this address, so use an inbox you can open. A private relay address, such as Hide My Email, works. Do not use taylor.test@example.com here. If Stripe shows a picture check after you continue, complete it yourself.

  2. 03
    Password

This creates a Stripe sign-in for the test account. Make a new password and save it with the email. Skip Sign in with Google.

  3. 04
    Two-step sign-in

Stripe requires two-step sign-in, and the test code 000-000 does not work here. Stripe opens on the authenticator app option. To get codes by text instead, tap your phone at the very bottom. An authenticator app, including 1Password, also works.

  4. 05
    Backup code

Save the emergency backup code with your test sign-in, then tap Next.

Tap Continue when you finish; pressing Enter in a field can submit the page early. If Stripe asks for an identity document, use only Stripe’s official test images, or stop and contact Strata.

Skip the extras

Nothing here needs new information.

  1. 10
    Public details

Stripe fills these from your earlier answers. Tap Continue.

  2. 11
    Fraud protection

Stripe selects Radar Pro. Tap Use baseline protection with Lite (included). If that link does not respond, Continue with Pro is fine here because test mode waives Radar fees.

  3. 12
    Climate contribution

This step is optional. Tap No thanks.

  4. 13
    Sales tax

This step is optional. Tap Not right now.

Submit and finish

  1. 14
    Review and submit

Check the summary, then tap Agree and submit. This accepts Stripe’s agreement for the test account only.

  2. 15
    Check the result in Olive

Stripe returns you to Olive, and the card says “Stripe is checking your details” with a spinner. You do not need to do anything; the card updates on its own. In our test run, Stripe finished in about two minutes. When the card says “Ready for test payments,” select Use Stripe for new payments to start taking test payments. If it says “Action required,” select Add information and finish with the same values from this list.

In Olive, disconnecting a Stripe account may require a fresh sign-in. Olive warns you before ending the current session. The account stays connected until you return and confirm the disconnect.

Clover

Test cards for an assigned Clover sandbox merchant and hosted or manual card-entry flow.

Card details

Use expiration 12/34, CVV 123, and ZIP code 27601.

  • Scenario

    Successful card payment

    Use

    4242 4242 4242 4242

    Expected result

The payment is approved in the Clover sandbox.

  • Scenario

    Declined card

    Use

    4005 5717 0222 2222

    Expected result

Clover returns a decline and the order must not appear paid.

Keep the assigned amount

Clover can use transaction amounts to trigger sandbox responses. Changing the amount can change the result.

Device testing uses test cards

For tap, insert, or swipe, use only the physical card supplied with the Clover Dev Kit. Never use a real card.

Clover Ecommerce sandbox does not send provider receipt emails. A missing Clover receipt is not by itself a failed transaction. Project notifications are a separate result.

Synthetic customer

Use these values when the test does not require a real email delivery. Use your assigned tester address for login codes, receipts, or notification tests.
